2019 PPG Festival

Welcome to the tenth annual PPG festival. The Piano Pedagogy Group is a group for teachers studying piano pedagogy or working towards an exam goal.

The festival is organized for PPG teachers and their students. All students of any age or level are encouraged to enter any style or genre of piece. The festival also offers a teachers class for PPG teachers who are working on repertoire.

Our mission is to:

– Provide a positive learning atmosphere
– Give students a chance to perform for other students and parents
– Learn from a qualified adjudicator to gain extra insight into repertoire

Our adjudicator is Kathleen Van Mourik

Alberta-born pianist Kathleen van Mourik is an in demand adjudicator and performer, locally and internationally.  She earned a Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Calgary in Piano Performance, studied with lied and chamber music at the Hilversum Conservatory under Hans Broekman in Netherlands.  Upon returning to Canada, she earned a Master of Music degree in piano performance under thetutelage of Vladimir Levtov at the University of Calgary.  Ms. Van Mourik is the founder and co-artistic director of the Mountain View International Festival of Song, Canada’s only summer master class programme and concert festival combining art song and chamber music, as well as the Mountain View Connection, Calgary’s only concert series devoted to presenting emerging artists in concert.  In addition to her work with Mountain View, she maintains an active performing schedule, and has appeared across Canada, as well as in the United States, Belgium and the Netherlands.
